Sounds like you've got a pretty thorough plan for achieving your goal and fulfilling your passion :)

I think following up with the 100th Battalion Club is a good idea. There are also lots of resources in print and video about the nisei who fought in World War II.

I would also suggest asking about family albums and letters...those would be "primary source" research and can provide some pretty powerful information. You can scan photos, letters, cards, and convert to jpgs to use in your book.

I have a book, written by Pat Saiki, that includes stories about the nisei in Hawaii and I also have the DVD "War Letters" that contains actual letters from soldiers in many US wars. Let me know if you would like to see them and I can drop them in school next weekend when I come in to leave my sub plans.
