Allusive Poem Final!

Victory! by: Kristy Tamashiro
We waited for centuries to see a victory in the horizon
No one can stop us now
Prepared, determined, aware
Whistles blow
The time has come to take it to the hole

Celebration music comes from the lyre
Filling the war zone with excitement
The bow and arrow came in handy tonight
We casted our deadly plague on our enemies

The wait is over
The end of those many centuries lie before us
It's right in our reach

The ball pounding on the court
As if it was the cadence of my heart
This war will come out in a victory for us

The sun now clears the dark sky
that has hovered over us for years
We are victory, we deserve victory, we posses victory

In my poem Victory! I was the Greek mythological god Apollo. He is the god of music, archery, and the most handsome god of them all. He loves playing music from his lyre. I love music, I've been playing the piano and flute for many years now, so when I saw he was the god of music I thought it was perfect. Apollo was also the god of sun and light, and I thought how ironic? I was the sun for my metaphor video my freshman year. I also saw that Apollo was the god of poetry. I myself enjoy poems, and it fit because we had to write an Allusive poem about it.
I really wanted to write about basketball. This assignment couldn't have came in a better time. We just won our OIA champs game, and I was still excited, so I thought how could I incoreperate that game into a poem. Some Allusions I used was how Apollo casts plagues and diseases against his enemies, which would be our defense on the court. I also said that we waited for many centuries for a victory, because last season we didn't do so well, we pretty much lost all our games. I also said celebration music comes from the lyre, which Apollo loved playing on his lyre. I also said the sun now clears the dark sky, which meant since Apollo was the god of sun, the victory has broken our loosing streak from last year. The poem was meant to be from beginning of the game, to the actual game itself, and than after the game.
I wanted to show the sun coming through the clouds for my graphic. I also showed the plague that Apollo has sent against his enemies, and his bow and arrow in his hand. I also showed the lyre and music notes coming from it.
These poems and projects help me to appreciate yourself and your world a little better. It shows me that there are many demensions to this world, not the regular top layer we all see.
